Literature itself plays a key role, or does it?
I couldn’t answer that question with any certainty until recently, when I stumbled upon a clue. Literature, regardless of genre, seems to shape us in subtle ways, moulding the mind and even the body in ways I can’t yet measure. It’s an intriguing thought, though I have no scientific proof to offer.
And yet, even if it had no effect at all, I wouldn’t mind. In that case, perhaps the real value lies in the act itself; the habit of turning pages, of looking into the mirror and imagining the person you are becoming with every line you read.
